Cranks use to have considerable rub...I've been perfecting a restoration "technique" to make beat up cranks with scratches, scrapes, shoe rub, look new again. Can barely tell the difference and they look new again!

 Secret Wink

Haha jk, I used a black polish applicator and very carefully filled everything in. All around the logo and rub marks. It's good to do the whole crank face cause it can slightly mismatch the color or, the rubbed sections make the color faded. I also have used black sharpie, yes, standard black sharpie and carefully did the whole face (on previous cranks) and make sure the color is applied evenly. That's not the hard part though, the crux of the whole problem is that even if you applied the stuff it'll rub off again, so you have to get 3m Transparent Tape or Bike Saver tape (I use this) and cover the face of the crank, then use a xacto knife and carefully cut (so you don't scratch the crank) off the excess tape off. After, you get a crank that's filled in, looks new, and won't rub off due to the heavy duty clear tape. It'll also protect from future rubbing from occurring.
