nice pic, you're looking fit brother !!!...oh yeah, 29er FTW ...when you're standing by your bike, it's easier to see how racy and how short the wheelbase is, best looking trail sled ever !!!...
cheers Marc, this is one fast roller mate.I was a bit flat on this ride due to the after effects of a flu but still got a couple of PB's lol....pushed too hard in some places and could not keep up with the bike but as i said before, the bike is much more capable than i am......yep trimming down and doing all the right things.....lifes good mate
hell yeah bro...just saw some pics of the new Giant carbon proto with 650b wheels for enduro and it looks pretty much exactly like yours,,,it just has wheels a size too small ...
Holy cow, I forgot it was winter there !! We just cooled off a bit here after a lengthy heat wave ! Done with my degree and built up a new old rig this am and finally got out in the forest ! Ahh yes !! Nice looking new ride mate!! Do you love it ?? How are the climbs and the techy tight stuff ?
Hi Jeff, great to hear from you.Yep the winter we are having is the hottest on record but for us its still cold.7* mornings are cold here lol.... Congrats brother on finishing the degree,im mighty proud of you....more info on the new rig please bro.
The 29er is all speed and has a lovely plowness about it.super sticky to the trails and is one hell of a climber.over 6 months ago i set my PB time around the XC loop and have not been able to get near it for that time.My 1st ride EVER on it i took 30sec off and thats with stopping 2 times, next ride i took 1min off and was chatting the 1st half of the lap with mates and last week i got 20sec off again and we stopped to look at some wild life.....climbs out of this world and the tech stuff is a little harder but its more my skill level than the bike....just means i have to re-learn some good riding habbits.
You go my brother... lookin' fit! I love crisp morning rides, provided there's no snow. Glad you are diggin' the new ride. the more you like the ride, the more you ride! have fun, my man....
Cheers brother...i have been working hard on fitness and have dropped a shit load of weight......still a long way to go but not trying for any other reason than i want to ride forever so its best to do something about it at 43 than 53 lol....bike is a beast mate,so happy.
i have been a bit sick with a flu lately but riding all the time...training so i can ride everyday until im 100 hahahahaha....without riding i dont know what my life would be
im sure there are people very happy out there who dont ride...im saying that for me not to ride would be terrible,it is such a big part of my life....i am addicted..we both are amigo hahaha
I can imagine! From my observations with 29ers, I think that they like to wear light wheels and light tyres, then they like shorter stems. Those two neutralize the feeling of "tractorness". Because the traction is better than 26 you can run shorter knobbs at least on the rear. Light wheels are much harder to get, before you ever change anything consider carbon rims for stiffness to weight, and avoid 29" ZTR rims smaller than the Flows as they are bloody flexy. Then the stem: snappier steering is really welcome, and is pretty much trade-off fre as you get so much stability from having BB lower than wheel axles.
very well said mate....there is a "tractorness feel for sure" ...my mate got one last week and it has a lighter wheel on it and it fly's.....i would much prefer a maxis crossmark tire but i want to get used to all the parts on it before i go swapping stuff out.the 90mm stem is quite nice but a 60mm i think would be better.....a carbon wheel on a 29er is the way to go i think but a bit out of my price range lol....
YES....the only place i am struggling is the cornering at speed...the 26 i could go hard around a corner but i am still getting used to the big wheels for that.It is not too much different to be honest but it is so much more efficient.....love it
mate if i was in the market for a new bike (which i was) i would take the time to work out a realistic budget, what spec is important and what kind of riding you are doing....i have been looking for about 12 months with no real desire to get something new but when i got offered a shit load for my old bike i "re-opened" the new bike case....i knew i wanted a 29er,i knew my budget and was prepared to consider anything.....i kept coming back to this Trance X2....being a older slow fella i wasnt to concerned with with anything this bike had or didnt have.I went to 29eronline.com and watched three reviews of the bike....one tried the exact same bike with carbon wheels and it was too fast for her (she was a XC racer and won a few US races)...one guy could not find a problem other than the seat and the last guy loved it so much he was considering selling his SC Tallboy carbon to buy one.....i was lucky enough to get the last new one in Aus..it was a insurance replacement for a guy but it took so long he got something else.....its a great bike that maybe even makes you a better rider than what you really are....good luck with the purcahase......oh and they look great too
Yes and No mate.....this bike suits me as i mainly do XC and trail riding over long distances. The Enduro was wonderful at all forms of riding.I raced a 3 hour XC race on it and the next weekend i raced a local DH event.I got a crazy offer for the Enduro i couldnt knock back and got the Trance.I find i am much faster on the 29er and feel a lot safer at speed.I also do long road rides on the 29er too.
yeah mate, very happy .....feels like when i put the 4x4 into low range going over shit lol...but it does take a bit of the feel out of a ride i must say....but i enjoy it more because i dont get as fucked by the end of a lap and its very fast
hell yeah thats a great idea mate....we had a pump track but bush fires got it ....i really missed riding that thing and its a totally different muscle group to use too....
Congrats brother on finishing the degree,im mighty proud of you....more info on the new rig please bro.

RideON!
So, is it as good (better) than 26?
