OUr shop went to interbike last year and when they were able to ride it, they said that it is even more plush than the 40rc2, the inverted design allows for constant lubrication of the bushings and since they incorperated carbon on the new design there should be less flex, looking forward to having mine by june, Its nice that its back and it is by far worth the cost for those that have an unbreakable addiction, the one great product produced by manipoo

The old one would be almost perfect if it hadn't the flex nor the + weight, the new one is lighter and they say that hasn't the flex so it must be a hell of a fork. BTW it would be sweet if BOS produced a inverted DH fork. It's expensive but that's cause its inverted. Fredcaires recommends it

absolutly amazing they never bottom out super strong bad@ss looking. they dont flex or if they do you cant tell. spot on design everything was well thought out when it came to this fork. i do however sugest fliping the fork over to lubricate the inner upper parts due to the fact its an inverted fork

great fork only thing is when you run the setting off the psi chart drop it by 20 for a smooth ride or you will get a ton of arm pump over breaking bumps along with just normal trail rocks

Stiff and unbelievably light. It's a good way to build a fork. Particularly impressive as a USD fork; and can be set up any old how. Requires a lot of maintenance, my only downside.

Manitou Dorado (MSRP $2775) — Manitou has revived the classic Dorado with the creation of this fork. The all new 2009 Dorado is a completely re-designed fork from Manitou. Invert design and carbon construction make this fork a beast, designed for Downhill use.

Specifications Compare to other Forks

Release Date 2009
Price $2,775
Weight 2812 g
Color Options Carbon
Travel 180-203 mm
Travel - refers to the distance the wheel can move in respect to the frame. Typically measured in millimeters, most forks range from 80 to 203 mm of travel
Spring Air
Crown Dual
Body Type Carbon (inverted)
Rebound Open-bath, double tube rebound damper
Rebound - is how quick your fork returns to a fully extended position after being compressed. Almost all after-market forks feature external rebound adjustment for easy fine tuning.
Stanchion material 36mm Aluminum
Steer Tube 1.125
Damping TPC+ compression damping, with adjustable velocity, pressure, and energy dependant circuits.
Damping - The process of absorbing the energy of impacts transmitted through the forks or rear shock during the compression stroke, and absorbing the energy of the spring during the rebound stroke.
DropOut Options 20mm
Compression Dual Air Chamber, Hydraulic Bottom Out
Compression - This is the damping circuit that absorbs the compression energy force on the damper. Compression damping is used to adjust how quickly a fork or rear shock compresses when hitting a bump, and is adjustable on some products. When compression damping is too soft, this condition allows most of the available travel to be used without attaining control of the wheel. When it's adjusted too firmly, the wheel will jump or "dance" about when hitting small bumps, again failing to gain control of the wheel.
