The Boot’r team is Mongoose’s DH race bike.
The $3999 MSRP Boot’r is a great looking bike that doesn’t let you down when you get it on the dirt. First impressions make a big difference in the high end bike market, and Mongoose has it nailed this time. The powder blue matte finish with Orange highlights is tastefully done and the paint itself seems like it would hold up well. Included is a velcro stick on chainstay protector to silence the chain a little bit and keep the paint looking new.
The Boot’r was one of the only bikes I felt comfortable on right off the bat, largely in part due to being able to dial in the Elixir CR brakes. The frame itself was well sized in large for me at 6'2". The 65.5 headtube seemed perfect nice the bike settled into the travel. but on some small uphill Straightaway handling was fantastic with the RockShox Vivid rear shock really sucking up the terrain but still leaving the bike maneuverable. The boot’r jumped off all of the natural rock doubles on the course with ease, never feeling like you were entirely glued to the ground like with some DH bikes.
Overall the boot’r is a fantatsic bike, especially for the budget minded downhiller. You will get a great handling frame with a fantastic spec, for less money than many people spend on frame/fork alone.
