I have the 07 model but the 09 has the same geo so theyre not that different. This is by FAR the best ive owned. The sx trail is really a versatile bike that can do everything reasonably well. It feels confortable in the air and on the djs. It handles very well when freeriding. So far ive been amazed by how well it can rip dh trails at Bromont, even though sometimes you can see that the bike is near its limits on full on dh courses. But so far it has felt like (almost) a real dh bike. I have a 66 on my sx and its 180mm (7 ") goes very well with the sx, making it more of a heavy freeride bike. The bike still remains very agile and flicable. I love how the bike holds on its own on the garliest trails. But if you ridee bike parks every day, go for the demos. If you wondering if you should buy this bike, dont hesitate because its amazing!
Probably the 2009 model is even better!

Sickest frame on earth, this bike can shred the DH like it was bread for it. It also loves big air and berms, I have never met anyone with anything bad to say about an SX. The bike was made to jump, Claw knows it, and if you have to do some pedaling to get to that sick line, it will get you there. I have ridden this bike for 8 months and each time I do it makes me progress, 500 vertical feet in 1 mile, the gnarliest jumps, wedges and drops to the rockiest rooted out downhill trails you can find, this bike wont disappoint you.

This is possibly the most versatile bike in Specializes quiver. Build it up stout and it is a die hard gravity sled that can play in the park or hit some DH races. Build it light and it is an awesome aggressive all mountain slayer.

Specialized took an already great bike and tore it down and turned it into a even better bike for no other reason than that they could.
I weighed it at the shop new and it came in at 38#s even (size large), not the claimed weight of 36.48#s but that's splitting hairs. The bike rides great even though it is a bit under sprung (stiffer spring is on the way). I don't really care for the white cockpit, it's a mountain bike and I have never seen a clean mountain so why white? But other than that it is a fantastic bike.
One thing though the chain guide is mediocre at best.

BOUGHT A 2009 AS A LEFT OVER FOR $2300,PUT ON A 50MM TRASITION TEMPLE LITE STEM WITH A 6 DEGREE RISE,OTHER THEN THAT ALL STOCK.I COME FROM A MOTOCROSS BACK GROUND,AND MUST SAY THAT THIS BIKE IS SICK.8' TO 10' DROPS ARE NOTHING WITH A GOOD TRANSITION TO LAND ON,OVER SHOOTING THE LANDINGS ARE A LITTLE HARSH,BUT NOT BAD AT ALL.THIS BIKE PEDALS TRAILS WITH THE BEST OF THEM.I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT PEDALING,OR LAUNCHING THIS BIKE.I WOULD RECOMMAND THIS BIKE TO ANYONE.ME AND THIS SPECIALIZED SX TRAIL2 ARE GOING TO KILL EVERYTHING WE MEET UP WITH,AND THE BIKE IS GOING TO EAT IT ALL UP!!!!!!!!!

owned for nearly a year. Its never disapointed. Frequent comments are that it rides like a mini demo. I've had no issues at all. 750 bars are coming '10 which is a nice touch. Cable routing is also pretty poorly thought out. Going around the BB is asking for trouble. Otherwise, amazing bike.

very good geometry, handles very well. the bike suprised me with how efficiently it pedals up hill. and even how it desends. mine is the 06 model but i tried the 09 just in a parking lot tho, and if felt similar. the only mistake i made was getting a medium i should have gotten a small, but i was suprised at how i can still handle the medium. only in the tight and tech parts is when i struggle a bit. would definatelly recommend this bike.

This may be the most AWESOME trail bike that I have ever owned. I have been riding for 15yrs and have never been so happy with a bike before. The SX trail II out of the box weighs 36 lbs, but pedals like a bike that should be 7 or 8 lbs less. It handles tight singletrack like an xc bike, but when it gets steep and gnarly it reacts like the Demo7 that I had before it, only the SX is more "flickable". There is no other way to put it.... THIS BIKE RIPS!

Specialized SX Trail II (MSRP $4800) - If the trail ride turns into a freeride, the new for '09 SX Trail with 170mm of FSR travel shows no mercy when it comes to triple overhead drops and back country stunts.

Claw knows it: The SX Trail M5 Premium Aluminum frame delivers. ORE top/down tube, forged head tube and full cartridge bearings. Integrated ISCG mount. 170mm travel. Not for the meek.

Fox 36 Vanilla RC2 moves through 160mm of travel any way you want: low/high compression, rebound adjust and lockout. A 20mm thru axle keeps it straight, and an alloy steerer keeps it light.

Lightweight, tough and grippy Specialized Lo-Pro Mag pedals spin on oversized, heat-treated Cr-Mo axles with sealed bearings and removable pins. Win friendly, not shin friendly.

New, custom-tuned Avid Elixir hydraulic discs and SL carbon levers with reach adjust, metallic pads and 203mm rotors for high-speed control.

Specialized Clutch SX tread offers a tough cap-ply construction and soft dual compound for confidence in the corners and the loose stuff.

Stiff Truvativ Stylo crankset surrounded by Gamut Shift chain guide. At least your chain is under control, heh?

Stout, maybe death-proof, the custom DT Swiss F550 rims span a wide 30mm wide for strength and improved tire contact. Laced with DT Swiss Competition black spokes to Specialized Hi-Lo disc sealed bearing hubs: 20mm front, bolt-on rear.

The standard in coils: Fox DHX 5.0 rear shock with full adjustability - rebound, ProPedal and bottom-out control.

One of the greatest bikes you can buy, takes everything you throw at it. DH/FR/DJ/SS this is the mother of all bikes. I had the 2008 model and it rocked! great bike for a great price.

i ride the 08 frame set with 66rc2's and would recommend this bike to anyone who is into freeride/downhill.
a bit less travel than a downhill specific rig but more than a full blown xc rig

Small fast and light as hell and takes anything works as a fairly good dh bike or a sexy ass jumper even a decent cross country bike and with the fox suspenssion unbreakable. Nothing beats life time warrenty

GREAT BIKE. Amazing for trails and park riding. They come with great parts. Little on the heavy side but these bikes can shred on the trail. Great on corners!
