The gear shifter is Shimano XTR making the shifting process smooth and easy for little hands. This bike has 16" wheel set and 20" wheel set. Frame extension is included to extend the length of travel and fit the larger 20" wheels. The sell includes two different front forks, one fork that is rigid carbon fiber keeping the bike very light, second fork is two inches of travel. This bike allowed my four year old to ride single track with us quickly on a MTB bike that is light and can climb with 10 gears. When he moved to the 20" inch wheel set we went from the rigid fork to the front shock which allowed him to bomb the downhills at age five and six.
