45NRTH Cobrafist Pogies

$80 CAD
It can be impossible to keep your hands warm biking in the winter. These do the trick. I’ve kept my hands warm in the-20’s with these and normal winter gloves. I’m limited to only a few degrees below zero using the same gloves without the pogies because of the added windchill in cycling and freezing metal effect of holding onto the bike. Even big gloves that make it nearly impossible to hold onto the bars or work the brakes aren’t warm enough. Your entire bar, grip and shifters are enclosed by these. I mostly used thin liner gloves or summer biking gloves inside these and stayed quite warm. I even went gloveless. There’s zippered vents on the top and bottom if you get too warm. You can also store things like energy bars or gels you don’t want to freeze inside the pogies or your phone. Anything you want to.. er…keep at hand I guess. You can put hot shot packs in there too. They take on and off in a couple minutes. There’s a Allen key bar end plug on one side and a foam block grommet that sandwich the shifter and brake with heavy duty velcro for the other side. There’s a draw string for the opening in case you want to cinch it closed around your forearm. I’ve never noticed any problem with getting your hands out during a crash as it always just happened intuitively. They’re pretty much new. I experimented with them for a season then they’ve sat in my closet for years. I just don’t bike much when it’s really cold and focus on skiing instead. I’m ready to let these go. They’re probably a lot cheaper than a really warm pair of gloves that are too bulky and not warm enough to work anyways. I’m close to the west Bragg Creek trails. Come out to see them and take them on a ride

45NRTH Studded winter wheels with tires, studs, tool

$700 CAD
Turn your full suspension 29er into a winter mid-fat bike. 3.0 studded 45north wrathchild tires on WTB 27.5+ KOM tough i45 rims with DT SWISS 350 hubs, boost 110mm front/148mm rear. Fits most 29er bikes sold in the last few years. 29x2.6 tire clearance on your frame would be recommended to make sure the back tire fits. Front forks should be no problem. Wheels are freshly trued, taped and have new sealant. The hubs still spin like new and only have one season of use. All the studs are in place and I’m including a package of replacement studs as well as the t-handle installation tool. A great set of wheels in great shape. I’m close to the west Bragg Creek trails. These rims and tires have been the perfect thing out here. 4 out of 5 times they’re a better tool for the job than a fatbike. Huge lugs bite into the snow better than most fatbike tires. I wouldn’t ride in the winter out here without studs. Super grippy studs give you better traction on shear ice than you’re used to having in the summer. The big knobs are really grippy in loose dirt and mud too. Modern full suspension bikes are just generally better geometry and spec than fatbikes. The traction from full suspension is nice in the winter when you need it most. It’s much faster than a fatbike generally. It makes more sense out here in kananaskis where freeze and thaw cycles leaves a lot of ice and bare frozen ground than a fatbike which is designed for riding on groomed ski trails. We’re not allowed to ride the ski trails in the winter here. Come out to the west Bragg Creek trails and check them out when you’re here. They’ve been great for me but I had to build another set of winter wheels because my new bike has a different hub standard
