Kicking Horse Bike Park Trail Crew Update

This has been the season when the sky forgot how to rain. I'm not going to lie, many of the trails are taking a beating from the relentlessness of the sun and the rubberiness of braking tires. And there is nothing we can do, short of establishing a 1200 vertical meter irrigation system, to fill holes. But hey, it's mountain biking; if you wanted a predictable environment, you would join a spin class. So most of our focus has gone into building a new trail from the bottom of Magic Carpet Ride to the top of Blaster/Upper Kranky Pants. This trail is long overdue and we are getting excited, but it is unlikely that it will be open to the public this season. If—big if—it rains buckets, then we may be able to possibly consider the possibility of reconsidering.

Swamp Donkey, bless its sweet and tortured soul, has been the standout this year. After almost 2 months without rain, it rides almost completely unscathed by the furies of heat and drought. This trail has attached itself firmly to our hearts and we look forward to beginning work on Phase 2. We just don't know yet when that will be. In the meantime, here is a brief history of the Donk's development:
