Black Mountain Bikes: Kid's Bikes That Grow With Them
@cford You’re dead right, the chainstay length does increase when you upsize from small to large. However, you don’t need a new belt because when you switch the bike between small and large mode you simultaneously remove the 30t rear sprocket jacket revealing the 25t sprocket beneath (our IN:GEAR system). The increase in chainstay length is proportional to the reduction in sprocket circumference allowing us to use the same belt in both settings, you can then fine-tune the belt tension using our eccentric bolt. The end effect of this is that as the child gets bigger, stronger and faster they get a harder gear more suited to their growing abilities and the chainstay measurement grows proportionally with the rest of the geometry. Have a look at our [L=https://blackmountain.bike/pages/copy-of-about-epok]tech page [/L] for more info.

This comparison is between a belt and chain of comparable length. Our belt weighs 34g and a chain of the same length weighs 216g meaning a chain is 635% heavier. Hope this clears things up a bit?
