NO BMX BACKGROUNDGabriel Wibmer's recent edit saw him hit the streets of Hamburg with some unusual components bolted to his trail bike. Grind pegs.
After being on the run from BMX purists for the past month, and receiving a stack of questions about the pegs, Gabriel put together this short edit about his creation.
| I had a lot of people asking where the pegs from THE GRIND came from, and how it was to ride them. So I wanted to share a bit of the behind the scenes. In the end, getting the pegs mounted to the Spectral turned out great, but riding them was not so easy in the beginning. Quite a few sketchy moments, and a lot to learn while filming, but super fun to try something new. Enjoy!—Gabriel Wibmer |
Check out the work that went in behind the scenes, not only to machine the axles and pegs, but also to get to grips with riding them.
There's no doubting Gabriel's insane skills on a bike, but his experience with BMX and grinding was fairly limited before production of this edit began. After a steep learning curve, and a nice collection of bruises on his shins, Gabriel managed to pull together a decent bag of tricks using the pegs. From flat land spins to rails and ledges.
After coming to Canyon with the idea, the R&D team were stoked to try something different, and worked on machining something totally custom.
While the end result was solid, we can't say that pegs will be hitting the MTB mass market any time soon- at least for riders who value their fork, disc rotors and frame.
