Orbea wanted to build an Orca that was within reach of even those who aren't sure they're ready for carbon-fiber. The Orca built with Shimano Dura Ace components is that bike. They start with their Bronze frameset, simplify it by employing external cable routing. The Bronze frameset is one that employs both Orbea's aerodynamic Aizone technology and their comfort-aiding Attraction technology. While the head tube, downtube, and fork are shaped for reducing drag, there are places where Orbea blunted a little of the aero edge to increase comfort. You see this in the shaping of the final segment of downtube before the bottom bracket juncture and the final segment of top tube before the seat tube juncture. By flattening the vertical distance, they were able to soften the ride so that the bike still is efficient when you're cranking hard, but absorbing shock as you do so. The Attraction shaping of the seat stays provides ample vibration damping in the vertical plane while still offering plenty of stiffness in the horizontal plane. The Orca Bronze feels like a fast bike when going full gas, but the comfort designed into the frameset makes this a bike that can tame rough roads and leave you fresher at the end of long rides. This Orca is built with Shimano Dura Ace and FSA parts. Dura Ace takes care of the drive train, with their shifteres, derailleurs, and eleven-speed 11-23 cassette. FSA is just about everywhere else—bars, stem, brakes, crankset, and wheels. Orbea has long collaborated with Italian saddle maker Selle Italia, and has specified their Q Bik saddle, a light, padded perch that is fairly cut away to stay out of your way when going hard. They also work with tire manufacturer CST and have provided their Czar 23mm wide tires. This rubber has a flexible casing for good ride quality, but a tough tread for long life.
