SRAM X-Sync 2 Eagle Direct Mount Chainring Direct Mount Chainrings UPC: 710845827280
It’s no surprise that with the launch of its ground-breaking one-by 12-speed Eagle drivetrain, SRAM also introduces a reworking of its X-Sync chainrings. Building on the original X-Sync's renowned chain retention ability, the X-Sync 12-Speed Direct Mount Chainring changes things up with claims of even better chain control. As with the original design, each tooth is CNC-machined to support the chain's inner- and outer-link widths by providing a variable thickness from tooth-to-tooth, so the chain and chainring essentially lock together as you pedal and push away mud with ease.
The departure in design lies in the tooth shape. Where the original X-Sync teeth took on a boxy shape, X-Sync 2 is narrower to accommodate the 12-speed Eagle chain and features teeth that more closely resemble those of a shark. Boasting aggressive profiling, these teeth hold the chain securely in place like a megaton aquatic predator latching onto a precisely thrown oxygen tank, then let it to glide seamlessly back to the cassette for smooth, friction-free turns.
The beauty of this new profile isn't just in its chain retention ability. It mimics the wear profile seen in the original X-Sync teeth for increased durability, and it features specific edge shaping to prevent chain suck over time. The direct-mount interface also makes swapping out rings a breeze, giving quick flexibility to adapt to different shapes of terrain.
This came on a 2019 bike I bought, used for about 50mi, then switched to a 30T. Excellent condition!

Jun 22, 2019Santa Cruz 5010 CC XX1/X01 XL with Ibis Carbon Rims
$3500 USDI've owned this bike since it was new, and have taken meticulous care of it, with all maintenance done by a pro bike mechanic. I’ve always been good with regular cleaning and drivetrain lubrication.
All pivots have been recently changed (free lifetime replacement from Santa Cruz), along with bleeding of the brakes and dropper, and replaced seals & oil on forks. Brake pads replaced a month back, and rotors have plenty of life.
Everything runs smooth and quiet!
With all the rain, I haven't ridden the bike much this last year, as I don't ride this bike in the rain/mud (that's reserved for my hardtail). Most of my overall riding has been trail single track, climbing, some intermediate downhill, no jumps.
I loved this bike so much, I decided to get a new 5010, and am passing this one on. As you'd expect, it has a few minor rubs and scratches, but only cosmetic.
The wheelset and cranks were put on in May of 2018, so they have not seen much use, and are in near perfect condition.
