DBDtools Announces E-Billy Electric Repair Stand
Seeing as there are some constructive comments under this article I will try to answer some concerns and questions. This stand is indeed not focused on home users but shops where mechanics are lifting bikes all day. In fact, most of the larger shops already have electric stands in a similar price range and I would say we are about a year late to the party. I know about the dropper, it may be better to clamp it by the fixed part or by the frame. It was our first time filming with a professional crew and had so much to think about, setup lighting etc so I only thought about it after the video was already shot. Also, I rotated the bike just to unscrew the pedal :) The article went through the e-bike filter because it's not e-bike specific. I know this doesn't mean much coming from me but once you get spoiled with being able to make small height adjustments and having everything at the perfect height you hate using a manual stand for any bike, even a road one. You can ask a mechanic that uses an electric stand if you know one. The stand is heavily built for stability, which is one of the main requirements of many mechanics. Many parts are purposefully overbuilt. If you need to move it, the base plate slides nicely. It lifts "only" 40 kg because we optimized for speed over lifting capacity (gearing of the motor is the limiting factor, the stand itself can easily carry 100 kg+). Not many bikes over 40 kg, but speed you notice every single time. Some mechanics we interviewed even said they sometimes just lift a bike into their electric stand rather than wait. I used to be a mechanic and I know most mechanics choose this line of work because they love bikes and the culture. If we can make their workday a bit easier that makes us very happy. Some home-built solutions I encountered look awesome too, always love seeing people solving problems with their own skills. If you have any other relevant questions I will be happy to answer them. Thanks for the support!

As a longtime PB user, my anticipation for the hate was pretty spot on :)
