I clearly stated i was noob and dont know a damn thing. Anyways, some bikes have them and some dont. DO they have pros and cons?

Hey im pretty much a noob, and i have a question. where it says SRAM30 what does that do that extra part to the chain. I see some bicks with that big extrea piece and somewith out. Can you explain the pros and cons? Does it get in your way at aal?
