My CERVELO R3/Disc Upgrades: I mounted the 160mm Shimano RT-CL900 DuraAce—IceTech, Freeza Rotor. I was able to use the stock mounting bracket. With it oriented in one direction, it positions the Caliper for a 140mm rotor, and flipped in the other direction, it works for a 160mm rotor. I reused the stock HED locking nut as it is a perfect match for my hubs. I am not going to argue with the engineers at HED!

My CERVELO R3/Disc Upgrades: I mounted the 160mm Shimano RT-CL900 DuraAce—IceTech, Freeza Rotor. * This is my first time doing this rotor size upgrade on a road bike, but everything that I read about the 160mm is that is more about not fading, and slightly more power. I am also upgrading to Shimano L04C Metal pads giving more friction, and therefore more stopping power at both ends. * I went from Ultegra to DuraAce rotor so the weight difference is actually slightly less than the Ultegra 140mm rotor. Will the bike feel 1.4g lighter? Not on your life. But at least I didn't add extra weight, as the bracket is the same. I did go back to the stock (heavier) hardware. So we can call it even overall. DA 160mm Rotor weight - 112.6g (actual) Ultegra 160mm Rotor weight 114g (YouTube) DA 140mm Rotor weight - 96g (YouTube) Ultegra 140mm Rotor weight 114g (actual)

My CERVELO R3/Disc Upgrades: The Shimano RT-CL900 DuraAce—IceTech, Freeza Rotor is 160mm, replacing the stock 140mm rotor. Made in Japan, Not a Chinese copy. I realize this seems like a silly statement to Americans, but in the Philippines and other Asia Pacific countries, cheap chinese knock-offs are the norm.

My CERVELO R3/Disc Upgrades: The Shimano RT-CL900 DuraAce—IceTech, Freeza Rotor is 160mm, replacing the stock 140mm rotor. I went with this style compared to the "Flashier" Shimano Dura-Ace SM-RT900-S Disc Brake Rotor, as this Rotor is slightly lighter, and the center hub is their stronger version, supposedly keeping things quieter. * I went from Ultegra to DuraAce rotor so the weight difference of the 160mm DA rotor is actually slightly less than the Ultegra 140mm rotor. Will the bike feel 1.4g lighter? Not on your life. But at least I didn't add extra weight, as the bracket is the same. I did go back to the stock (heavier) hardware. My CERVELO R3/Disc Upgrades. Drivetrain Update. The stock Shimano Ultegra CS6800 11-28 Cassette was changed to a Shimano Ultegra CS6800 11-34, for easier climbing. That necessitated the longer Shimano Ultegra CS6800 GS Rear Derailleur. I used a Shimano Dura-Ace Chain on the build. New inner shifter cables were fitted as well.

I bought the larger size, to make sure that I had enough to not only do the CERVELO but switch my TREK from STANS to the Muc-Off Sealant, which is water-based and less toxic.

My CERVELO R3/Disc Upgrades. ENVE Carbon Fibre Bars. Lower/Front view. The Bars are designed to keep the controls slightly "out" and I angled them slightly inward in relation to the bars, for ergonomics. I immediately found these bars more comfortable than the old ZIPP bars.

My CERVELO R3/Disc Upgrades. ENVE Carbon Fibre Bars. Top view. These bars have a thinner (front to back) "Shelf" that will allow me to rest my palms on the bars, but they are not as wide as the old ZIPP bars, so I can grip them like traditional round tubed bars more comfortably, as compared to the ZIPP bars. They also have a mild "bump" and slope towards where the controls are, making it more comfortable to hold them in that area, as well as using the controls.
