4X is hereJosh Bryceland clipped his own Maxxis Wet Scream spikes to his particular standard. Madness? A missed clip? Who knows? But it's a fact that "Miami" Bryce came in as the third fastest qualifier on the day.
George Brannigan of Devinci heading full steam ahead into the humid Quebec air on his final practice run. The mist was a constant companion on the top of the hill today, only blowing off as riders began to qualify.

Myriam Nicole's plate says everything about her qualifying run: 16 seconds and change back, but fifth on the day.
Renewed focus and training ethic is really paying off for CG this season. There's still a lot of play in the Frenchman, but it's deadly serious now come race day.
"What line is he taking? WTF? That's rubbish!" Brendog and mechanic do the armchair quarterback from the gondola.
Mojo found. Mick Hannah qualified tenth today with loads left in the tank for the race on Sunday.
Riders on the bubble do one thing as they cross the finish line: check their time. Some don't even bother. But Finland's Riko Lansio took that look back only to face crushing reality: 6 and a half seconds long seconds away from qualifying.
He may have qualified ninth today, but Brook MacDonald still has to wash his own bike at the end of it all.
This could be anywhere riders use shuttles to access trail, but one look at the short travel rides on the tailgate and you know it's not a day of shuttles for fun, but a shuttle for business time at the Mt St Anne 4X track.
The midges in Fort William are aggressive to say the least, but they've got NOTHING on the black flies swarming Mt St Anne this season. Mr Swiss Timing couldn't be bothered with a mosquito net in Scotland, but the wee little beastie of Quebec was another story entirely.
Melissa Buhl has as of yet to strap on her DH bike at a World Cup this season, but the focus on 4X has been a refreshing change for the new Boulder, CO.
Four flats in practice today might have been a sign for Thomas Slavik of things to come, but no one-least of all the reigning 4X Wrld Champ-was anticipating not only a flat, but a fairly nasty off the bike due to the swamp hole just before the first berm. Nor was Slavik the only rider to go down there.
I have no idea how David Graf did not eat crap in the rock garden, one footing it all the way through, but problems lower down saw the Nicolai rider fail to finish.
