Farmdale Dirt Jumps

How many times can I shoot these dirt jumps? It's hard to find new angles, but this one just left of the drop in run turned out pretty good. We worked the dirt for a few hours in the morning, building a berm at the end of the beginner line, and a couple of rollers up top. The first roller was a bit steep but I gapped them any way. It was a damn fine day of riding, fo' sho'!

Matt is the genius behind the Possum Bomb freeride trail in Iowa. The trail features a couple of 20-30 foot gaps, lots of smaller gap jumps, a step up, and a drop (that you better bunny hop off of), and HELLA FLOW. You barely have to pedal. I shoot Matt riding a lot, as we often shred together, but I wanted something more personal. This shot is after a day of riding before we both headed off to dinner.

The first jump Matt ever built on the Possum Bomb is the one behind him. It's a five footer over a fallen tree, creatively named, The Tree Gap. Matt is a pretty good all around rider. I wanted something showing his concentration, and I think this does that.

So, a friend built a trail in Burlington, IA called the Possum Bomb. It's a sick flow trail and this is the first jump, a five footer over a downed tree. Good stuff! Craig gets a whip over it in this shot.

Illinois can be a tough place to shoot. Most of the trails are in places without much scenery. You have to get creative with the lighting sometimes to make a good shot. For this one, I used my 50D, a 580 EX II, and a 430 EX II with a Mini/Flex trigger for HyperSync.
