We love sick wall rides and massive airtime but sometimes even we, the guys from the Austrian Lahnvalley Crew long for something more down-to-earth. Natural trails with a good portion of flow are just according to our taste there is tons of it in the Saalfelden Leogang region where the trails zig-zag through the woods and are ideal for a shred with friends. On days like this we only stop for one thing: the obligatory "Brettljause“ – a cold dish of regional treats – at one of the quaint mountain chalets.

"Down to Earth“ is the second piece in our three-part webisode "Moments of Contrast“ out of he bike-mecca Saalfelden Leogang.

And then someone had to do 2 days of trail work.

WTF are you talking about? All these guys ever did was just a few skids.... And besides, trails are built to be ripped and shredded, and I'm saying that as a trail builder myself...

When did skidding out on the trail become cool or acceptable? We used to call these knuckleheads "skidiots". You might build miles and miles of trail but this kind of riding discourages land managers from allowing mountain bikers to use multi-use trails. "Shredding" and "Ripping" might feel very macho, but its terrible stewardship outside of the designated bike park. ...it does sensationalize a video, but makes no sense in the real everyday world of trail riding.

Yeah lets see how much we can skid down this beautiful trial. HACKS!

Its not skidding. The rear tire is un weighted so it goes into a drift. Still its for effect. It appears to rip up the trail when you do this. So how about doing it once or twice in the movie. Not every other corner.
They are not hacks. Still im tired of slash style of riding. Did you notice the kid was the one doing the slashing? The older guy had no trouble keeping up to him.

Fully concur. A couple of drifts are cool enough. Repeated drifting implies not giving a sh!+. Why not pop off a couple of roots and do some air drifting. Slick trails and nice riding though.

Dream trails! No need to drift, lean it over and carve!

I couldn't look past the masses of cables on his handlebars! I kept trying to count them.

7 lines. 2 shift, one dropper, two brakes, two for the "twin loc" It's a goddamn mess on those machines. god forbid you set it, forget it, and have a good time. So much tech these days.

Seriously? There were 7 cables??? That's just nuts.

Go-go-gadget bike!

Love it! Licking my chops. Although not riding yet, the trail maintenance/building process begins this weekend. Giddy up!
