Pinkbike Poll: How Much Should a Top DH Racer Be Paid?
People comparing what the top racers make to their own wage is silly. To be realistic, one would have to compare the top percentile of doctors, engineers, and teachers that push the boundaries in their own profession. However, the chance that any extreme athlete will injure themselves to the point of not being able to continue in their sport or even be able to back to school is very high, so if they are pushing the limits they should get every penny they can negotiate for.
That being said ,I am very glad that my nine year old son looks up to a friend of mine that is a doctor who can afford to ride a new bike every year if he chooses to and travel to ride any where that interests him with out anyone pushing him to go bigger, faster!
