There are two main attributes that need to be in place in order to race fast.
1 - Strength and fitness.
2 - Skills and riding technique.
When the two come together, that is when riders win races and even championships.
The thing is, not many riders actually train the two things, together. Yes they go to the gym, do intervals and go for rides to develop their skills and confidence, but rarely do I see riders blending skills and physical training in one session.
That is where specific, 'Race Training' sessions come in. We take an element of skill and try to execute it whilst fatigued or under some sort of stress, just like when we go racing. In my latest YouTube video I explain how to go about doing this sort of session as well as giving you three example sessions to really get you sharp for racing this summer.
