Budget Carbon or Blinged-Out Aluminum? - Pinkbike Poll
Hilarious that everyone debates the ability of carbon vs aluminum to resist impacts from rocks and talks about the durability of the frame after the impact... Let's assume both frames are considered unsafe after said impact... Which one will cost you more to replace...

First Look: Trek's New Carbon Slash, 27.5 Session DH Bike, and 26" Session Park Bike
WakI and Willie.. as a veteran in the cycling industry, I can tell you that shop owners are not to blame for the 27.5, running a bicycle shop is a very hard business to be successful at (financially speaking of course) and If a store owner wants to keep his shop open he will typically do whatever it takes to sell bikes. That being said, the consumers decide the product that will sell, and the store owners do their best to cater to that, not the other way around. Dont throw store owners under the bus for a marketing and consumer issue. Also AND I WILL PUT THIS IN CAPS BECAUSE IT IS IMPORTANT... from an ENGINEERING STANDPOINT, the bicycling industry is a load of rubbish in many ways. THIS is coming from both a mechanical engineer and a bicycle mechanic. WE live in an industry motivated by trends, not engineering technology, while the world cup is a great place to look and test new engineering concepts, most other industries look at us as a bunch of trend whores, companies are only looking for something "NEW" to sell the consumer, and how well it works is secondary, because unfortunately even if your product is the exact same as it has always been, consumers look for innovative and new products, not just the best stuff. I REPEAT, WE ARE AN INDUSTRY MOTIVATED BY TRENDS FAR MORE THAN ENGINEERING CONCEPTS AND PERFORMANCE." END RANT.. Sorry about all that haha
