@Longroadtonowhere: what did you replace it with? Looking at getting the 2023 Stumpjumper because it seems like what I want right now from a bike. Plus you know, doesn't cost $6k.

@GZMS: The Chisel is an XC bike. It is one of the most popular NICA XC race bikes. To call it "no XC in this bike" is obtuse. There is plenty of XC in it.
There isn't 100mm lycra clad fire road chasing XC. Doesn't mean No XC though.
Dario is using decidedly XC components on his bike with an XC bike frame weight (just not XC geo).
No XC in world cup XC bikes also right? Because what XC bike has 120mm of travel?

@zephxiii: What did you do to drop it from 32 to 28 lbs? 4 lbs is a lot especially after knocking the two easiest weight savings out.

@arrowheadrush: Looking around, I think that was maybe the only bike that came in around that?
Like I get under 30 is possible (especially now with buying used top of line components. But saying "everything" was lighter and it's all too heavy just seems to be looking back at a couple examples and trying to generalize over everything.

@schu2470: I see these comments all the time, but like what actual bikes weigh less than that in trail bike guise? My 2018 Guerilla Gravity The Smash was 37lbs (granted, this was with Exo Aggressor / DHF, I9 Aluminum, coil, and inserts).
I have been loosely looking at trail bike reviews on Pinkbike and everything since 2020 weighs around 30lbs - 32lbs for a trail bike.
My steel hardtails with carbon wheels, Fox 34 fork, 1000g tires), carbon bars, weigh around 28 lbs.
(All weights taken with pedals. These are not top of the line lightest weight possible frames / components / these are reasonable to be fun for "trail".)
