There are some very poor logging practices still going on the world today, but that doesn't mean that all forest operations are the same. I don't live in BC so I cannot say anything about the regulations there, but I do know many many very good foresters in CA and they do some beautiful work in the woods without the destruction you have seen. REAL sustainable forestry DOES exist.

Hey man, just saw your post on "mixed feelings" and noticed you were at HSU for forestry. You should come ride with the bike team some time. I'm currently an ERE major but was thinking of switching to forestry. Any advice or thoughts on the program? Thanks.

I'm a forestry major in Humboldt, and love building trails and riding in the woods...its an interesting balance because managing the woods is important, but trailwork takes a lot of time! A lot of people don't like the look of logging, but its neccesary. Man, I would love to spend some time in BC...
