Ragley TD1 Titanium XC 29er Pace Carbon XTR SRAM XX DT SWISS

$2995 GBP
Ragley TD1 ''RACE WEAPON" 29er XC RACE MTB. (£2995 NO Offers) Hi and welcome to my listing, I hope you enjoy viewing this bike, but before we start, there are a few points I'd like to clear up so as to avoid any wasted time for you and for me! ( sorry for being blunt but there is not going to be a single word of bull in this add, and I don't have time for dreamers / time wasters ) Point one is simply this: The bike listed here has been built with absolutely no expense spared, not a single gram on a single component nor a single millimetre of this project has been over looked and was repeatedly and meticulously researched for best combination of build, light-weight, strength and cosmetic appeal and coordination. Point two: The bike was built for myself and was intended to be kept and used all my life and was never built with any consideration of selling on, but, due to a recurring knee arthritis following a car crash and 4 operations, I will never again be able to get the full potential out of this beautiful work of art. Bearing in mind these points please be aware, if the bike doesn't sell, I'll keep it, won't be giving it away just to get shut! I know what I'd be prepared to pay for something like this so expect it to go to someone who appreciates the build for what it is and prepared to pay what we both know it's worth, and will be able to get the best out of it since I can't anymore. so, where do I start......??? The bike is a 29" wheeled Ragley TD1 XC Race machine, the frame is made by Lynskey Titanium masters in the USA by order of Ragley bikes UK and cost £1250 and I have upgraded the adjustable horizontal dropouts to Paragon Machine Works titanium upgrade for additional strength and stiffness. With multiple use from disc braked racing bike slayer ( see pics ) to semi slicked street bike speed commuter to XC Race winner or just an all round fitness machine for covering the maximum amount of woodland in the easiest effort. I built it with an absolute desire for excellence and ZERO compromise, whatever the cost and spent countless hours and hours and well over £5,000 to build a creation far above and beyond anything I'd ever seen before. Everything was bought brand new, most parts were the best and / or most expensive in the market at the time ( Sep 2011 ) and a small example of the commitment to the project was how I had to source EVERY last screw and nut and even the chainring bolts on the bike from the UK, Canada, USA, China and France before I'd collected the same of the original hardware from the frame and components in Titanium, to save about 90 grams! I then sent them all recorded to a UK metal anodising company to get them blued to give them some prominence and blend in with the blue colour scheme of the project. These little bits cost around £200 alone. ( plus there are around 20 spares of a few of the hardest to source ) The forks are Pace RC31 C-Type and at the time were the last pair in the country. They differ form the standard RC31 in that the C-Type have Titanium internal sleeves under the carbon outers which saves about 85 grams or something. The Groupset is Sram XX with the carbon shifter and carbon cage rear mech with silver alu jockey wheels on ceramic bearings upgrade and one piece solid CNC milled cassette but I switched the cranks for Shimano XTR because they looked better, were stiffer and were compatible with the 48t Salsa single front cog which meant I could eliminate the need for a front mech and shifter or extra chain wheels due to the large range given, a carbon fibre Shift up chain guide was also added to eliminate the possibility of chain derailment over bumps. However, there is a small second chain wheel mounted that came with the XTR Cranks, its Ti / carbon composition and weighs just 25g and looks great, but importantly adds a well appreciated stiffness to the salsa 48t for quality flex-less power delivery from rider through the drive train! This combined with the Sub 18lb bare bike weight was enough to provide all the gearing needed. ( The XX Cassette alone still retails for over £250! ) The Brakes are Sram XX also and the wheels are Crank Brothers XC in silver with Black/silver Parallel spokes on ceramic bearings with DT Swiss Titanium Ratchet Q/R Skewers and I added red and blue Purely Custom valve caps and valve collars from America to keep up to the attention to detail. The Bottom bracket is made by Enduro bearings it was $230 from America and has ceramic bearings also, for maximum frictionless speed and durability, the headset is ceramic too, from Loaded in America, both are in anodised Blue. The seat post is from Lynskey in America and was £179.99 and is 400mm long 27.2mm titanium tube which come with a carbon seat cradle and ti bolts and is just beautiful and guaranteed for life ( no questions asked ) The seat collar is a classy Salsa blue smooth bulge looking affair and fits right in seamlessly with the rest of the build. The saddle is Prologo and is thin but contains interchangeable gel top cover, admittedly there are lighter saddles out there, but this bike was built for purpose and not for a museum so some form of Ride-ability was considered here. The handle bars are one piece flat Titanium with a slight degree sweep for head down speed and the stem is Thomson elite with + or- 10 degree rise / drop and Ergon Grips with mini Carbon bar ends which are really light and really comfortable. The Tyres are Schwalbe Marathon Supreme with reflective band for night riding ( see pics ) they have an amazingly low rolling resistance and weight and remarkable adhesion to the road or even canal or dirt path, they have differing compounds for better wear in the middles and best grip on the edges and are like new!! The tubes are Schwalbe 29er light weight and all this makes for a very low rotating weight wheel set! The chain on the bike is light weight Kmc X10-SL 10 Speed - and has recently had its second one around 50 miles ago as the first was approaching its stretch wear limit, which is also a good indication of just how new and barely used the bike is! Riding the bike is an absolute dream, it accelerates seamlessly and gear shifts are as good as could be imagined, I'm always up and down the ratios because shifting is an absolute joy! I have regularly had cars happy to sit a chill behind me for a couple of miles until I was burned out or hit a hill and slowed down, I have also over taken a few cars and best of all I have never ever once been over taken by a race bike ;) although I have blasted past many lycra bikers on my travels, which is a small personal record I'd like to keep and good reason to sell now rather then keep her locked up gathering dust until I decide to roll down the hill to the shop and probably get passed by a racer for the first time! ( no offence racer boys ) The bike is in pretty much immaculate condition, no scratches or dents, never once dropped or crashed or anything, mainly street speed miles and some light canal riding, no expensed spared in the build, all receipts for all parts, an absolute joy to ride, benefits from the extra strength and rigidity of a XC MTB as opposed to a racer and also benefits from superior handling over our wonderfully 'smooth' roads! and the fact that the machine is far stronger than a racer of the same speed, also the pressure and exertion being available from the disc brakes and 2.0" Semi-slick tyres means that when they're weaving about and on the brakes, you're banking it over further!!! The whole project came together wonderfully and I compare it to the Pagani Zonda of the Bike world, the gear shift is always perfect and the way it accelerates and brakes and handles can only be known by a man when it's been ridden, it's very low maintenance single chain ringed, disc braked flying machine and very very high enjoyment and It's killing me to think I can't ride it any more. It's the 20" frame and I'm 6'3" and had the seat set high for me but it will fit a big range of Bloke after the seat is dropped accordingly, the pedals which are SpeedPlay Frog Rainbow Titanium ( not included ) extra for £150 if required, I'm sure you'll have your own shoe and pedal setup already. The lights ( not included ) available as extras also, the front is Exposure Diablo ( hardly used ) and the rear is Fibre flare. The bottles are also not included but the titanium bottle holders are. Any questions please ask, I have build photos also of the bare components going together which I can send you and the bike comes with Two spare sticker sets and a load of ano blue spare screws. Contact me for viewing, looking for 3 grand (no offers) Thank-You, Rob. Posted with eBay Mobile
