@pisgahgnar: It really wouldn't surprise me if they never asked Rob and never intended to, after listening to the pod cast with Chris Ball I think it's pretty clear that discovery want a very corporate and mainstream style of coverage and Rob is very much a commentator that appeals to us actual mountain bikers and true mountain biking fans (especially with the one liners ect) whereas it sounds like discovery are trying to appeal to a mainstream audience that also watch golf and tennis and whatnot. I think discovery will find it fails miserably because the mainstream audience never seem to be interested in extreme sports and none of us actual fans want to watch it without Rob on the mic but anyway that's discovery's problem, I'm just super glad we now have an awesome series with Rob on the mic!

@BikesBoatsNJeeps: yes i was aware of that and that was bad enough already IMO but this was something different, he talked of adding control or 'structure' to the vlogs. the question then his answer is at around 48:50 in the podcast on youtube if you want to see what you can make of it. I might be reading to much into it because it was quite a vague answer but it definitely didn't sound very good to me. The discovery coverage is obviously going to be very formal and mainstream which most extreme sports fans (as in us actual downhillers) are not going to like much therefore the rider Vlogs are probobly all we will have left in terms of proper content so the idea of Chris Ball/discovery also messing about and 'adding structure' to those as well sounds quite concerning. Personally given the news here today I'll just be watching crankworx instead anyway but I do very much enjoy all the Vlogs ect and would like to still watch them and I would be sad to see them fucked up.

I went and watched the whole podcast after Warner posted that and Chris Ball came across very very badly, he even said they were going to impose control on the riders own personal YouTube Vlogs of the events. After watching it I felt like top level downhill and the atmosphere surrounding it was finished. SO glad to come on here and see this crankworkx new today!
