Now that day two of the Winter Teva Mountain Games has wrapped and we’re about to head out again for another round, we figured it would be appropriate to thank everyone who joined us in witnessing the madness on the mountain today.
Tonight our Teva mountain bikers had the crowd on pins and needles as they hucked themselves off kickers made of snow lit up like Christmas trees. Chad Kagy was indeed the standout. He was a gold medalist in X Games BMX and invited by friend Cam McCaul, who at one point lent Kagy a bike, seeing as he didn’t own one. In fact, ol’ Chad, well known for his antics on a BMX bike, has ridden a mountain bike less than a dozen times.
Of course, he was the first to guinea pig the jump—and wayyyyyy over shot it. All night he went bigger than all of the invited riders winning with a backflip tailwhip off the larger jump.
Also, Tele skiers and the bike guys took turns in a one hour jam format. They hit each jump as many times as they could. Mike Montgomery also really went for it throwing a lot of different tricks including a big front flip. Kurt Sorge was really throwing the biggest backflips, and also guinea pigged the first big jump in practice. Needless to say, everyone far exceeded our expectations.
