Trans NZ Announces 2026 Event Will Be Its 10th & Final Edition
Its around 20-30km a day with around 900-1500m of climbing a day. All very doable and just fun for all rather then a suffer fest!

Trans NZ Announces 2026 Event Will Be Its 10th & Final Edition
I guess a very valid question! There are many reasons and not just one solid answer! 10 years was always the goal, then to re-assess where the event was at when I reached 10 years. The intent was to move locations to revamp it after 10 years, and the idea was always going to be Nelson area - but with the newer NZ Mtb Rally 6 day all inclusive enduro event starting in the Nelson area, that was no longer an option. It's also hard to pull enough entries now with 2 x major 6 day all inclusive enduro's on the south island and the entries to Trans NZ were way down last year. So demand for the event was the number 1 factor, but who knows, with a dedicated marketing it could still be ok. Next reason, is I have a 4 year old and live in BC Canada, so life has shifted a little and I have decided I want to dedicate more time to my Trans BC and keep that one charging strong. I passed off Trans Tasmania to new owners and who know's maybe Trans NZ will come back at some point with new owners, as I know a few that are keen to take it over but there is no guarantee on that yet. Then other personal life reason :) I run this event and Trans BC solo with no help except from my incredible crew during the event, so it is a lot to take on admin wise. I have been working on hiring some help recently though. It will be incredibly sad to say goodbye to this event as it really has been an unbelievable 10 years and it always has filled my heart every time I return to NZ and ride these locations! Megan
