And the real answer is there is no short answer. I have zero issue with people owning firearms. Just seems odd we regulate Smoking more than firearms at some point.

I think you all are highly missing my point. Of course the latest talk now is banning bump stocks real irony the sales of them just jumped through the roof.

I think this also ignores the fact that tobacco is highly regulated in the US. They can't advertise, camel had to stop using it's comic camel. Huge taxes placed on it, Min age requirements. Advertising telling you how bad it is for you. You make very valid points though.

While I'm for gun ownership I'm also for regulations that make sense. Waiting periods, psych evals, on top of felonies certain other convictions that would limit firearm purchases. Unfortunately because of lobbying and law makers that know as much about guns as they do about being a rocket scientist. We get laws that do little to next to nothing of actually preventing some type of problem. I know "criminals don't follow laws". You're right but how many suicide deaths could we prevent with mandated psych evals, how many murder with legally purchased guns could we prevent? I also believe mandated training should be included. Something that covers basic weapon safety, handling, cleaning, maintenance, and some marksmanship. My local gun store offers free classes I was asked to help teach. Program got dropped because no one showed up.sure I'll get a shitload of downvotes but limiting magazines, what ever the new crop of laws against the evil ar 15 are have done little to nothing. I think gun owners and anti gun people need to have a real talk with each other and stop the end fighting to come up with regulations that make sense and may actually accomplish something. While gun deaths are low in number when you bring the entire world into the picture the reality is our number is huge. Again I realize this won't solve all the problems just think it's a step in a better direction.
