I have installed 3 of the mechanical kits and they all went together flawlessly. In all 3 it reduced the slop in the linkage and made shifting smoother and more accurate. I would argue it turns your old GX into a new XX1 in terms of preciseness and feel. Upgrading your NX or GX shifter is worth it too.
Yes, the main value proposition here is in fixing your broken AXS, but a new XX1 mechanical is still close to $200. So if you love high end analog shifting like I do, then it still makes sense to rebuild with these improved parts and add some unique bling while you are at it.

Very cool to see the unique pro setups. How much does the Optic weigh all built up? I wonder how snappy it is on the climbs compared to more focused xc bikes.
