COPPARIDE: The Fox Rude Lodge Part 1

A little while ago I entered a competition put together by non other than Tahnée Seagrave - one of Britain's best female downhill racers. In fact she recently finished third in the overall UCI World Cup series! The competition - Copparide - was created to raise money for the breast cancer charity Coppafeel. The idea was you donate to the charity and for every £5 donated you were given a wristband. Each wristband had a unique raffle code.

copparide - WIN it all at Fort William 2015... and you do not have to be there

I took the opportunity to donate to a great cause and there was a slim chance to win one of the prizes on offer. Win win. I honestly never expected that I'd be one of the lucky ones to win something. Let alone a trip to Morzine to ride with Fox athletes at The Fox Rude Lodge! It was lucky I stumbled across FMD's Facebook post announcing the winning raffle codes and that I actually decided to check my code. After triple checking the code, it wasn't until I received the confirmation email that I really took it in - I was going to Morzine!
Unfortunately it would be utterly impossible for me to have made the dates for the week with the Fox athletes. But thanks to Andy at Rude Chalets, I was able to transfer my week to the start of September. This also meant my girlfriend, Kristin. would be able to join me. I feel it's worth noting that Kristin has only been riding MTB a few months so Morzine is a huge step up !

I'm finishing this post off now after spending the day dashing about finishing up some work, collecting bike boxes and then eventually managing to get both of our bikes packed. This definitely involved a lot more stripping of parts than I originally thought but we got there in the end. How people get full DH rigs into these cases I don't know!

Keep an eye out for more blog posts. photo essays and a final video.

I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone involved in making this competition happen!
