The last weekend in October signifies the clocks going back in the UK, the start of shorter days and no after work riding without torchlight. In Sheffield it also means it's time for the Bolehills Halloween Jam. Back for it's third edition, a day of riding at the UK's best BMX track to sign off the riding season is exactly what everyone needs.
Bolehills is a one-of-a-kind BMX Track. Not quite trails, not quite a BMX track - somewhere in-between. A community of riders and builders of all ages. A place where the young riders can learn the skills needed to roast through a set of dirt jumps, and the understanding of the hard graft it takes to keep a set of trails running.
In the spirit of Bolehills, anyone that donated £5 got to pick a free prize courtesy of
The Bikes College.
A triple challenge Jam format was trialed this year - Teams of 3, all riding in a train down the backset. Points for transfers, matching costumes, tricks, and who can get the closest to each other. It really encouraged everyone to join in, with the smaller kids just rolling through the optional B line as tight as they could bagging some prizes.
Once we had done riding and darkness fell, we all piled in the pub for the Film Competition. Inspired by the Meribel snowsports comp, we invited riders in teams of 3 to go out and film their own edits, with some fresh trails dug by themselves to feature. It went down really well, with Ollie Peacock, Stan Palmer and James Hamilton taking away the spoils.
A small donation of £5 per rider goes a long way to keeping the track running

Everyone went all out with the costumes, with Jesus even blessing us with his holiness
See you all next year
The track is free for anyone to ride.
If you get down and have had the best time, chuck a few quid in the donations tin to help keep us rolling for next year. Bolehills is run by the riders, for the riders, for no profit. All funds go straight back into the track on a tight budget, so no penny is gone to waste.

*with an unmaintained and over used basic BMX track and an argument from locals that 'nothing good came of kids on bikes'.
