PRESS RELEASE: Bikebac Bike Recovery Tracker

We are excited to launch our new product to help curb bike theft - The Bikebac Tracker. Our discreet tracker uses RFID technology to help you recover your bike in the event it goes missing. Our partnering bike shops will have Bikebac Scanners that can detect if your missing bicycle comes into the shop. You will receive an SMS/Email alert if your bike is detected, and we direct you to work with the local authorities to get your ‘Bikebac’!

Simpler, less expensive and more discreet than other solutions, Bikebac aims to provide excellent value and add another layer of protection to our prized bikes. With the sport surging in popularity over the past year, so has theft. Our goal is to help return missing bikes to their rightful owners while supporting the community we are passionate about.

We are launching in the Sea to Sky corridor starting with scanners located at Evolution Whistler, Tantalus Bikes in Squamish, and Bike Co. (Whistler & Pemberton). Our goal is to continue to grow our scanner network in the region to provide greater chances of recovering missing bikes.

Discreet and weatherproof, the Bikebac Tracker can be hidden in a tire, or under a chainstay/bottom bracket protector.

When you purchase your Bikebac Tracker, you will be directed to register the Tracker on our website and build a profile for your bike. In the event the bike goes missing, log into our website and mark it missing.

By purchasing a Bikebac Tracker, you receive a year's subscription to Bikebac Alerts, and can subscribe for future years at a reasonably low cost.

Great idea. What about partnering with Spruce Timing, biek parks and others that have bike specific event rfid scanners for more points of location?

Thanks! Certainly a possibility in the future! We are hoping to continue to grow our scanner locations in and out of bike shops.

Apple Airtag has potentially made any of these tracking solutions obsolete, if someone can figure out how to stash one in/on their bike.

We think this would be a great tool in conjunction with Airtags! Airtag batteries only last so long, whereas our trackers don't require batteries. Also, Airtags only work for iOS users. We also track the bike in locations where recovery is much easier and safer. It's easier and safer for law enforcement to recover a stolen bike from a bike shop, vs the thief's house.

@bikebac: My language was a little dramatic- this is a great product! Would be awesome to have bike shops just make a habit of installing one on each bike they sell.

Great idea! Just to be clear, is there any way you can scan the bike? or this only works if it comes into one of those shops with a scanner?
  • 2 0
Only our scanners are able to scan the bike, we do this so that bike thieves aren't easily able to detect and remove the tracker. Stealth is the name of the game!
