This travel tandem is unique because it transforms from a tandem to a single bike and packs into regular suitcases. Particularly usefulfor trips where one of us have a commitment for part of the trip…think destination wedding. In just a few minutes the tandem turns into a single for some free time for exploration. 24 speeds geared low for unsupported touring. We have toured with this in Europe (Milan to Athens is a favourite) and Africa (Kampala to Nairobi), Cuba and in Mexico (Yucatan peninsula…see destination wedding above). I have taken it as a single when going on short trips where riding to get around made the most sense but I did not want to bother with a large bike box. Works great for going to local dinner parties and restaurants too of course. It is well suited for linear tours that start at one airport and ends somewhere else becuase the case is a trailer. It is easy to put together right at the airport and pack it up the airport at the other end. It comes with two suitcases that stack and turn into a trailer (one case comes with broken "pull-out" handle). We always used only one suitcase plus a duffle bag for flying so that we did not have to tow both cases. Comes with spare tires and spokes (we have only ever broken one spoke on our tours…several tires though). Packing materials for the bike are included. A few scratches here and there. Overall it is in excellent shape. We have many great memories to pass along with the bike and smile when we think that you will have many more. We are 5’10 and 5’6 for reference. These bikes are very adjustable for size of rider. Currently set up with straight bars. Pedals are not included. We have some SPD’s that you can have if they will work for you to ride home. Beautiful ridgid mountain bike. Earlier version of Greg H-Ball Herbold's inaugural downhill World Championship bike. Shimano XT with beautiful Nitto stem and bars. Replacement seatpost to accommodate 5' 10" rider.

THIS BIKE IS ON HOLD AS OF September 28, 2023 Mountain bike converted to cross/gravel/touring with drop bars. The original Magura hydraulic brakes are super effective for a tandem. The addition of road levers allows levers within reach wherever hands are resting. Currently friction shifting via Rivendell silver shifters on bar end pods. Strong high quality wheels with Coda branded Hope hubs. This is a well treated tandem that has travelled twice to Africa as well as northern Europe. Nevetheless, it is in great shape with no deep scratches nor dents. Happy to provide more pictures as requested. Saddle is definitely not included  nor pedals. It is ready to roll on a new expedition be it on Gravel roads or unpredictable pavement anywhere in the world. It is easy to pack up and weighs just a little over 36lbs. Super comfortable for me at 5ft10. Delivery in the Pacific North West is possible (within riding distance of Victoria, BC).
