Oct 4, 2025Trek Rail 9.8 XL - New Wheels and Tires
$3750 CAD2022 Trek Rail 9.8 XT Gen 3 (2000km)

BRAND NEW wheels and tires (OEM stock from a 2025 Rail)
BRAND NEW chain and seat stays (rear triangle)
BRAND NEW bushings (all rear triangle, rear suspension swing-arm bushings replaced)
VERY NEW Shimano XT derailleur (about 5 rides on it)
RIDEWRAP on bike
Bought new for $12,500 plus tax.
Battery is 750Wh and still has a ton of life. I ride with someone who has a brand new 700Wh battery bike and this bike easily has the same battery life. So conservatively, you’re buying a brand new 700Wh bike.
This bike originally came on 29” wheels front and back, but it has been converted to a 27.5” wheel on the back (you can have old 29” wheel, also has Cushcore and Maxxis Assegai).
Been riding for 35 years and this bike was never crashed. Annoyingly all scrapes are from bike falling over while leaned against stuff or on bike racks.
New chain / seat stays, derailleur, and bushings are due to riding up an FSR, a rock flipped up and snagged and slammed the derailleur into the seat stay and scraped off carbon on the chain stay, an $1800 mistake...
Frame looks pretty cool with exposed red-tinted carbon.
Scrapes and damage - I'd sell for over $5000 if it wasn't for fork scratches:
-Rock caught between rear suspension swingarm and scraped frame.
-Some bike rack damage on fork crown, and frame downtube.
-Minor scrapes on right fork stanchion, fairly high up on stanchion.
Thanks!

Very light, lots of carbon accessories. I bought this bike used after one season from the original owner. I’ve gone through 3 knee surgeries and have only put 2 full seasons of consistent riding on it (so the bike has only had about 3 full seasons). I didn’t ride it for a couple years and when I went to service the shocks the bolt holding the upper rear shock mount had seized. Some surface damage to the carbon happened when the bolt was removed. I got Rob at Robert’s Composites in North Vancouver (world class carbon repair - ask any bike mechanic) to fix this, and he discovered an impact on rear triangle and a hairline fracture underneath the bottom bracket (stuff that wasn’t easily visible – the joys of buying used carbon bikes). More recently I got him to repair a small crack where a truck tail gate had impacted the bottom of the down tube. So in all he has fixed 4 issues (at about $500 each) that were easily repaired to as new and strong (or stronger) as from the factory. The upside to this bike is that the frame is now in great shape with no hidden cracks, but the downside is that it has several spots where the paint doesn’t match the original matte black paint. But when the bike has a bit of dirt on it the different paint shades aren’t noticeable.
