Race Day EWS Round 1: Photo Epic - Crankworx Rotorua 2017
@tiagomano: the rain wasn't isolated and it actually rained for everyone on course so it just affected the various stages differently as it depended where on course you were when the heavy rains came down. so tough for the top 20 on stage 1 but tough for the amateurs on stage etc. everyone would concur that stage 5 was an absolute shit show and resembled something more like a WW1 battlefield than a bike race

Race Day EWS Round 1: Photo Epic - Crankworx Rotorua 2017
@Jvhowube: @Jvhowube: its not really come-uppance its just the top 10 riders today were the best at riding ride mud and it suited their style. The usual EWS podium faces that finished down the field today are awesome riders but not in these conditions. on the easier dryer tracks like they will have in Australia next stop they will smash it. rude still won stage 6 which was the dryest stage of the day on what was a flat out no messing stage. when things get wet and wild the DH boys come to the party. after i finished stage 1 me and the guys around me all felt it was quite clear that people like hill and Bryceland were going to excel.

Production Privée's Steel Full-Suspension Bike Might Last Forever - Taipei Cycle Show
@optimumnotmaximum: yeah that's good to hear and i appreciate he is running a boutique hand built business which is to be admired. . but as someone who has snapped several frames from different companies over the years i need an assurance that they will just give me a new one if i break it within 3 years of handing over a stack of cash.

Production Privée's Steel Full-Suspension Bike Might Last Forever - Taipei Cycle Show
@fartymarty: i also was interested in the Starlings but found out they only offer a 1 year warranty which is far too short for an expensive bike these days. especially considering the are working with steel which they would say is supposedly more reliable. i'd be keen to hear what warranty production privee offer on these. its all well and good saying its more reliabale but there are plenty of aluminum and carbon frame manufacturers that offer 5 year guarantees on their work.

Rider's Perspective - James Shirley's NZ Enduro Experience
I did it last year and it was awesome and we were lucky to have perfect sunny weather all three days. probably the best race ive done. whilst i'm not opposed to the idea of mixing it up, i'd be disappointed if they extended it to beyond 3 days. As an NZ resident Friday to Sunday is perfect to fit in with normal life. Beyond that and it becomes a bit more difficult and less appealing to kiwis, which i guess is fine if your appealing to an international traveler crowd just like the Trans NZ does.
