Last day for week 2 and an angry bird warningThe morning chaos has begun! If you want to see the saddest group of kids, come here and watch 300 campers (ski, bike and board) have to leave the holy land that is Whistler-Blackcomb. I feel bad that these kids have to leave to the flat non-trail filled regions they come from. However, at the same time, this means we get a new group of kids tonight to come ride with us for the new week!

We finished the week off with laps from Garbanzo to the bottom. The campers have really progressed from mediocre trail riders to some pretty quick DH rippers. We did laps of Original Sin and In Deep and the campers kept asking for more. It was neat to watch the progression from kids who were afraid of the roll-in at the air dome to kids who are now pinning it down Drop In Clinic. It’s amazing what a few days in Whistler will do for your riding!

The trails were in mint shape yesterday. It rained a little over night and made the trails tacky without making them wet. It was the best conditions here in a long time. The trail crew even did some buffing to world cup singletrack and made the berms buttery smooth! As we were riding the crew was working on the end of Ninja Cougar. I cannot wait for that trail to open. It looks so smooth! The mountain is in pretty good shape, there are a few areas that need buffing (the hole before the big step up before Goats Gully!) but all in all that conditions are amazing right now.
The award for most improved riding goes to Texas who also won a new frame from Transition Bikes
The last thing for today is if you ride Original Sin to Blue Velvet, watch out for the evil bird! There is a grouse that has been there for the last week that does not like people! I first found it a week ago while reliving myself (while riding alone one evening) and it came and started attacking my leg. I told a few people who didn’t believe me and eventually we went up there and the bird was still there! It is not afraid of anyone. We had a group of 15 people and the bird was charging us. So if you are up there, look for the bird, and be careful!
Today is the coaches day off so it is time for some FAST laps!
