Zipp Firecrest 404

$2200 CAD
2018 Zipp Firecrest 404 The wheels were a back-up/second pair for their first two years, with a total of 250 kms. In 2020 and 2021, they became a primary pair of wheels for a bike that was part of a three-bike rotation, with an approximate total of 4,000 kms. The wheels have never been raced or crashed, nor where they ridden in the rain -- having been used from May to October. After each ride, the bike and wheels were wiped down. The wheels are in excellent condition. They are very comfortable and bombproof. The design of the rims makes cross winds less of an issue than standard deep section rims. In short, I would keep them if I didn't have to change over to disc brakes to accommodate arthritic hands. These wheels are: clinchers; rim brake; Campagnolo 11/12 speed hub AND Shimano/SRAM 11/12 speed hub. The wheels have a Campy 11/12 hub installed, however I am including a Shimano/SRAM 11/12 speed hub ($150 value) as part of the sale. The specs are: 58 mm deep; 1,615 grams; 77/177 hub set; Sapim CX-Spring spokes; 18 spokes (front) 24 spokes (rear). Original MSRP: $3,550 CDN (plus taxes).

Parlee Altum

$3000 CAD
2017 Parlee Altum (Size: M/L) This is Parlee’s all-around performance monocoque carbon frame. If you are familiar with Bob Parlee’s approach to building bikes, then you know what a remarkable ride these frames are. The carbon lay-up process is done to keep the frame both light and stiff, yet compliant to provide comfort, and it works. This frame is sub 800 grams, having both stiffness and comfort to match the lightweight build. This bike has never been raced, and it was part of a three-bike rotation. Wiped-down after every ride and not ridden in the rain. Will ship at buyer’s expense. From the Parlee website… The Altum is made from highest modulus (HM) carbon fiber material. Parlee has engineered a new layup process that places the high modulus carbon fiber in strategic areas to maximize weight reduction without negatively impacting strength or stiffness. One look at the new frame design reveals more pronounced tube shaping and transitions—the top tube and head tube flare out where they meet the head tube, as do the seat tube and down tube at the bottom bracket area. The result: a superlight frameset (750g frame/280g fork) with increased steering stiffness and pedaling efficiency. Much of the carbon layup strategy is based on Parlee’s goal of attaining a certain ride quality. The Altum is engineered to feel “snappy” when you stand up and sprint but have just enough compliance, especially in the rear triangle, to give it a smooth ride quality. The Altum use a traditional round 31.6mm seatpost with a hidden, integrated binder, weighing just 185 grams and adds road-smoothing compliance. Tire clearance is from 23c to 28c, and a new fork design with an integrated carbon crown that helps increase stiffness while shaving 20 grams. The internal cable routing is compatible with all major component groups, electronic or mechanical, and has been designed to make installation and service as simple as possible. Wilier Zero.7

$3300 CAD
2013 Wilier Zero.7 This has been Wilier’s top tier performance/race frame—full carbon with an elastopolymer injected into the build-up process to provide comfort to compliment the stiffness provided by the HM carbon. This frame is sub 800 grams, having both stiffness and comfort to match the lightweight build. If you are familiar with Wilier, you will understand and appreciate the Italian built and ride quality—a true thoroughbred. This bike has not been raced and was part of a three-bike rotation. Wiped-down after every ride and not ridden in the rain. Will ship at buyer’s expense. From the Wilier website… The 2013 Wilier Zero.7 was created with one goal in mind: to set a new standard for the most sophisticated race bikes. This is achieved with a frame weighing less than 800 grams, composites technology that takes carbon fiber to the next level, and a new bottom bracket system that maximizes efficiency. The Zero.7 takes full advantage of BB386EVO integrated bottom bracket. The box containing the bottom bracket is wider and has a larger diameter than the traditional standards. The result is increased stiffness while enabling weight savings, which equates to better power transfer and efficiency. The introduction of the Zero.7 also marks the first implementation of an exclusive Wilier technology: S.E.I. (Special Elastic Infiltrated) Film. The injection of a proprietary viscoelastic film between the layers of carbon fiber increases vibration absorption and impact resistance, making the frame stronger and safer, and its ride more comfortable. S.E.I. also enables shaving off weight, as the presence of this film reduces the need for intermediate modulus carbon. The Zero.7’s tapered steerer tube (from 1 1/8 inch to 1 1/4 inch) further enhances front end stability, providing the perfect balance of lateral stiffness, comfort, and precision handling.
