For people who are not aware there is a serious threat to Kauri trees called Kauri dieback. Once the tree is infected with this disease it WILL DIE. Please don’t WALK or RIDE over the trees roots as it is one of the ways that dieback is spread. Sorry to get all heavy but these trees are a very slow growing long lived keystone species and right now all that’s happening is that they are getting infected with no hope of being saved. Enjoy the trails (they are awesome) and the Kauri, just at a distance. Thanks for listening lecture over ;)
