Eremua trail association 5th year anniversary

Well, still with hangover (a good one, not the bad one) from an incredible weekend spent with the great community of Eremua trail association in Pamplona, Navarra, celebrating their 5th anniversary and the great things they achieved these years. More than community we can say its a family, such is the cohesion, friendship and passion they show in everything they do and that of course get the awesome results like the ones they have achieved since their inception.

It was a weekend full of activities, with some last minute changes due to the weather that made some things change. Saturday was a phenomenal day with two sessions of advanced riding techniques with local legend DH exPro rider Hegoi Ado. The morning group found some slippery conditions on the Aizkora trail, which was the one used for the course, quite humid due to the rains of the previous days. In the afternoon it was much drier and better to ride it.

At the same time at the tourist information center in Zubiri, where the Eremua association also has its main offices, one of the mechanics of CyclaBikes Pamplona, Iosu Gil, was teaching a suspension workshop with a good turn around, sharing detailed tips on how to get your suspension on tiptop conditions and ready for every occassion.

In the afternoon it was time for the two talks. The first one of about 40 minutes in which we discussed about the experience of the European IMBA summit with great presentations and discussions around issues related to mountain biking, the need for a passionate community to carry out a project, sustainability when building trails and the benefits that a community can get from the boom of visitors related to MTB.

The second and most awaited talk was about Trailforks, with a focus on introducing the platform to novice users, although delving into some more technical topics as participants asked questions. At the end of the presentation we spent a good time, almost 1h, on a debate on delicate points that many people wonder about, especially associations and MTB destinations that have different concerns than those of a user who only visits the region. We touched on the topic, so well known and discussed, of mapping absolutely everything vs. mapping only the most important or what the local association or local trailbuilders maintain and are official with the authorities. We also touched the topic on legacy vs newly built trails and the advantages and disadvantages of each option.

Sunday was the main event with the largest participation where almost 100 cyclists gathered to do 3 routes in the region, one long, one medium and one short. The destination was Zubiri where Eremua had ready a bbq with drinks and a prize with a raffle of various componentes, parts and apparael provided by several local sponsors.
