Handlebar adjusters

Ok, this one's actually a pretty good idea, although I'm sure you can buy something like this pre-made somewhere. Every time I ever cut down a set of bars, I end up regretting it. I think my elbows must be getting wider as I get old. But I had a bit of 1'' aluminum tubing hanging around in the garage, and I thought, why not re-extend those 26'' wide bars that used to feel crazy wide but now feel like pogo stick handles? The inside diameter of 1" (25.4 mm) tubing from the hardware store with a 1/16" (1.5875 mm) wall thickness is of course, drum roll please, 7/8". Or because we like to pretend we use the metric system, 22.2 mm.

Cut a couple of 100 or so mm sections, de-burr them nicely, then slit two 10mm slits lengthways on one end. Drill holes at the ends of the slits, of course, so they can flex without rippling, and you have:

And then you just need a clamp. See if you can guess where it's from.
Clamp and scratches
Obviously I don't ride with them extended that far, but you could if you wanted. Slip your favorite grips on, and you're laughing. I made the first pair using some old Haro grips that had really become loose and gooshy. But wrapped over the extra large diameter, they're tight and feel super solid. Obviously they're not going to be super skinny (unless you use road tape, which actually works really well), and I'd always loved skinny grips, but the solid feel and increased diameter really grew on me. The funny thing is, the best grips to use are something cheap, and thin. CBO has these 'Attivo' grips for about five bucks, and mounted on a set of my patented handlebar extenders they're my new favorite grip (they're the ones in the top photo). What you end up with, basically, is a lock-on grip, with all the clamp at one end and about 600 times the burliness of the ones you buy. Mine use two 4mm bolts, super strong and almost impossible to strip. just a small amount of force tightens the clamp down tight enough you'd twist the handlebar before the grip would slip. But the best part, of course, is the adjustment. You've easily got two inches of extension possibility on each end - meaning my 26'' Strip Bars can easily become 30 inches wide, if they want to.
The only problem is now all my other grips seem too wimpy!
Oh, and here's the answer to question 3.
