Industry Veteran Hans Rey Calls for Clearer E-Bike Definitions in Open Letter to the Bicycle Industry
I strongly disagree with the author. They're not "E-mopeds" or "E-Motorcycles", they're mopeds and motorcycles.
We don't call electric cars "E-cars" and turn a blind eye to them driving on the sidewalk. A car is a car and a moped is a moped, regardless of the energy source. Let's get that fact back into our heads and start enforcing the existing laws.
The "e" prefix is a special expansion of the bicycle category and has no business being applied to any type of moped or motorcycle.
Furthermore, the Class 1/2/3 system is established, respected, and effective. Arguing for the elimination of classes 2&3 falsely implies that legitimate, legal e-bikes are the problem and that the entire Class categorization system needs to be revamped rather than simply enforcing the existing laws on vehicles that don't legally fit the "e-bike" category.

@jpb1227: Any press-on Presta pump works with Clik, albeit without accurate pressure readings. But it's only $15 to permanently convert your pump to Clik or $10 to temporarily convert it. And if you're worried about some contrived nightmare scenario on the trail where your only hope is a Samaritan with a screw-on Presta pump, just keep an extra Presta core in your bag.
