@m3000: The individual components are machined in China, but are assembled here in Canada. Obviously, we would love to have all of the parts machined here in Whistler, but the economies of scale does not work with the smaller quantities. Lots of other small, boutique manufacturers are the same (Madrone, Vivo etc). The parts manufactured in Asia, but assembled in North America. There are no other chain tensioner companies offering a repairable and serviceable unit. We are offering value to the customer by producing a unit which can be repaired if you manage to bend a cage or destroy a jockey wheel, while still being price competitive with our peers. Our customers appreciate the right to repair nature of our product line, over having to shell out for a whole new unit.

@TennanT009: If you look and compare the splines of the barrels on each of these product's they do not look "exactly" the same?

Hi Dan. All 39 components of the Zone Pro have been designed and assembled here in Whistler. We have a design patent pending to protect the look and feel of the product. All GRAZR products are designed from the ground up.

During our testing, we found that hex counter sunk screws rounded easily, as the socket for the hex tool is particularly shallow. We switched to the Torx socket head for reduced rounding and improved the durability for the user.

@megatryn: Our tensioner cages are made from 7075 aluminum, while the hardware and clutch adjustment dial is made from 304 stainless steel to prevent rounding.

Good question! The cog is case hardened, meaning it’s heated to an optimal temperature and dropped into a small vat of carbon. This only hardens the outer layer of the cog, while retaining the innate strength of the chromoly below the surface. Unlike a cassette, this cog takes the entire load of the drivetrain at all times, which is why the hardening process is necessary for extended durability. The base of the cog is 5.5mm thick, which is significantly wider than individual cassette cogs, and wider than other singlespeed cog offerings on the market. This increased thickness helps spread the load from the cog onto the freehub body, reducing pressure on the freehub and therefore unnecessary wear. No freehubs are getting eaten here!
