5 Environmental Initiatives in the Bike Industry: Trek Removes 433,600lbs of Plastic, Sustainable Manufacturing, & More
@chrod: to be clear I'm not trying to say that aluminum is better. Virgin aluminum has to be used for many alloys because the current recycling system mixes a bunch of different grades together and then it can't be purified to the needed specs. Carbon fibers like GG and Revel use with thermoplastics that can be melted out allow much longer fibers to be saved, but they are still already cut and have to be used on smaller parts. Far better than straight chopped fiber certainly, but not as optimal as virgin fiber from a manufacturing perspective. The problem is that recycling is an extremely complicated topic and there is no easy answer for what is better. In my personal opinion people should work a whole lot more on the reducing and reusing of things rather then the recycling. Unfortunately, that doesn't allow people to buy lots of stuff without feeling guilty because they recycle.

Marine Cabirou Joins Monster Energy Roster
I don't get how mtbers villify energy drinks, but then turn around and drink large quantities of alcohol. Why is it people get upset when athletes are sponsored by monster and don't bat an eye when crankworx Whistler is sponsored by a beer company. To be clear I don't have a horse in this race- I avoid both caffeine and alcohol. Also given how much money pro mtbers make, only monster and red bull and maybe Clif really help them live comfortably.

Wouldn't that mean that the prices are reasonable, not absurd?

Isospeed, the weird supercaliber isostrut thing, knockblock, reactiv, bb90. All Trek proprietary innovations. Now to be clear I don't think any of these are good, but they are unique. I think it does illustrate that large companies instead of trying to innovate should just work on refining already existing ideas. Like making a one-piece pretty light bar that is easily available.

I like it. I wish there were more options, so this is good.
