@haen @roxtar First, any 911 is choice...as are Ram Power Wagons. Moving on...One aspect that neither of you are taking into consideration is the cost of innovation, and the "innovators dilemma". This is a non trivial consideration in "product tiering" strategies. SRAM had to spend years and lots of $$$ to develop a new drivetrain that will ultimately cannibalize it's entire product line. Not doubt you will see cheaper electric and mechanical options based on the new T tech...but right now SRAM needs to regain that innovation cost as fast as possible while they ramp production and manufacturing efficiencies, and continue to sell their existing lines. How do you do that? You release the product that will have lowest volumes with the highest cost. Over time you ramp production on those units which optimizes the production lines that produce the lower end products for a lower cost per unit. SRAM doesn't make the big profits until the mid tier GX products are selling in super high volumes. At that point they've gotten their R&D costs back while transitioned the old Eagle product line volume to the new T type stuff...this is the case with pretty much any "tiered" product strategy. See electric cars: Telsa launched with Model S and X, far more expensive and lower volume that Model 3 and Y. Porsche launches with obscenely priced Taycan, but target for volume and profits is much lower priced upcoming electric Macan and Boxster.
