Jan 26, 2014High Spec Giant VT, 18.5"
$700 GBPAlright all,
It's with no small amount of sadness that I'm going to sell my beloved VT. It's served me very well since I built it from all new components in 2006, however my riding has changed and my new bike suits it better. I honestly thought I'd never sell the VT but since sorting my new ride and getting a single/rigid I've not ridden the VT at all.
I threw as much money at the VT build as I could afford when I built it, somewhere near £2400 in 2007 and as a result it's never missed a beat. Apart from the days I set them up neither the shock nor the fork has ever needed to have any air added to them, not even once and they're still spot on (for me) and I'm 6' and 16 stone!
The transmission shifts well and nearly the entire drivetrain (chain, cassette, front rings, front and rear mechs) was renewed about 2 years ago. Since then I broke my shoulder skiing and missed nearly an entire season so the train should be good for a good while yet. The rear suspension has the usual (for a VT) few mm of play in the system as a result of the many bearing in the linkage.
The fork is 100/120/140 adjustable and the rear is set to 5.5" travel. This combo suits the bike well.
The frame bears many marks from cable rub, stone chips and hangar rash but there are no significant dents or anything stuctural to worry about (that I can decern with out xray-ing it anyhoo :-) I did once accidently spill a small amount of blue/green paint on the swinging arm which didn't come off. There is a small ding in the rear rim which has been there for years which doesn't functionally affect anything. The saddle has a small tear in the fabric right at the nose. The fittings for the brakes have surface corrosion on them but again are functionally unaffected.
Below is the detailed spec:
2006 Giant VT frame with Manitou Swinger shock
ODI Cush Grips
Easton EA70 (carbon specific) Stem
Easton Carbon Bars
FSA Orbit Headset
Avid Juicy 7 Brakes, 203mm rotor front and rear.
Shimano XTR Rapidfire shifters
Shimano XTR gearcables
Fox Talas RLC 140mm fork
Mavic XC717 rims on Hope XC Pro II hubs.
Panaracer Fire XC pro 2.1 tyres (great all rounders) Japanese version.
FSA Afterburner Crank
Thomson Elite, layback seatpost
DMR Seat
Shimano XT Front and rear mechs
Shimano XT Cassette
Hope Skewers
Hope Seat clamp (non QR!)
Shimano XTR chain.
This would make someone and awesome ride.
Please note, the contact number is my shop (Monkseaton Computers) so only ring in shop hours Monday-Saturday (9-5) and leave a message if I'm not in, either on the machine or with my collegue Owen and I'll get back to you asap.
