all engines work the same apart from the over head cam (OHC) or push rods most old cars are push rods which are easyer to work on because theres no cam belt but you get a horrible noise coming from the engine most probs your dads engine will be push rods if its got an endura-e engine innit, but to be honest i would take mechanics up at college they teach you the lot :)

Ste you need to know the basics of cars first if you want to do that go college and do mechanics
