New for the 2010 season is Answer's new Rove DH direct mount stem. Built out of 7050 alloy to be both light and strong, the three piece Rove stem fits the common direct mount stem bolt pattern that is found on most dual crown forks. The Rove is actually three separate pieces, two that attach to the top crown and then the faceplate itself. The Rove stem lets you pick from three reach options - 45/50/55 mm - to get you in the exact position that you prefer. Answer's new stem accepts 31.8 mm handlebars and features what could be the widest faceplate clamp available for extra security. All hardware is quality A2 stainless for long life and high strength.

Answer's venerable ProTaper handlebar makes another appearance in 2010. The DH version measures in at a full 780 mm (31 inches) width to begin with, with the option of narrowing it down if that suits you better. More and more riders are discovering that a lower bar height can help in many places, and with that in mind the ProTaper DH comes in a 1" rise, as well as an even lower 1/2" version. Answer uses 7050 series aluminum to keep the bar both light and strong. Weighing in at a respectable 335 grams for the 780 mm width, the ProTaper is only offered in 31.8 mm clamp diameter. There are three color options to choose from: red, black, and classic gold.

both the bar and stem look great, but would look far better if the red on the bar was the same red as the stem, as they just clash tbh.
  • 2 3
 true that .
  • 9 2
Loving the red stripe on those bars
  • 2 0
i have these bars in red they rock! only problem is that the red rubs off quite quickly, if you have never tried wider bars i would recommend it, these are also really light at the ends where you notice it more so even if they arn't much lighter than your old bars they will feel better and just btw, the red bars are the same red as the stem

 I really like that handlebar!
  • 1 0
would be nice to have the stem as a non-direct-mount one... we single crown folks also want an answer stem, you know. think i saw something like that somewhere here, but i'm not sure.
  • 1 0
they are coming out with a DJ stem shortly. stay tuned.
  • 2 1
the stem looks okay, but why make the stem out of 3 separate pieces? it seems pretty unnecesary. im also not a big fan of the different color faceplate- either make it all red or all black, not both
  • 5 1
 nice.
  • 7 6
Why does seeing this make me want a DH bike?
  • 25 3
 Because Downhill is the future.
  • 3 6
why the neg props on segativ? :S
  • 4 2
yeah, future is downhill, both the bikes, and the economy here in ontario -.-
  • 3 1
observed and ordered just like that! gigitty
  • 1 3
 lol, what ? xD
  • 2 1

  • 1 0
the new protaper is probalby the most beautiful handlebar right now... now a few guys who ride it and it looks awesome... 320g with 780mm width Wink
  • 1 0
bout time that Answer, one of the original company to make DH specific bars and stems, finally catches up with the times and makes an ultra wide bar! Looks good.
  • 7 4

  • 3 1
I love the machining on the Stem Looks sweet
  • 4 2
 that bike looks soooooo cooool...
  • 1 0
looks sweet with the new dorado! http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/4516411/
  • 1 0
i wish your bars were all red with a white stripe instead of a red one but maybe that will give you a good idea
  • 2 0
does anyone know if this stem will fit a 2009 marzocchi 888 rc3 world cup
  • 1 0
no i dont think it fits for marzocchi only boxxer and fox
  • 1 0
soooo nice.....i have the bar in gold/black ->looks great, also the stem is very cool
  • 1 0
but if you look hard you can only see Pad Contact and cr,s have lever Reach to so there more like the old codes
  • 1 0
my bad, the levers look much more like the elixir CR Mag - pad contact is tool-free, reach adjust is done with a tool. (beer)
  • 1 0
soory, gotta correct myself - there's a red knob behind the lever, right next to the handlebar - don't really know if this is the reach adjust or it's like the CR Mag - with a tool. but i'm all for a hybrid between an elixir lever and a code caliper. such a thing's gonna be a huge trouble for saint/tech V2/the one/stroker ace. Wink
  • 1 1
They are OEM XX levers (basically the same as Elixir CR Mag) with Code calipers. The XX brakes that come stock on Specialized bikes have an adjustment knob on the back of the lever that you can turn with your fingers, unlike the XX brakes that you can buy from a distributor.
  • 1 1
bummer... i forgot about the XX - the code would be even lighter this way. would be really interesting to see such a brake as an aftermarket product, not only for people who buy specialized. AVID, hope you read this! Razz
  • 1 0
I want a set. Simple as that!
  • 1 0
They have a stem for single crown.
  • 1 0
can you show it? i'm really interested. (beer)
  • 1 0
is there any info when or where from you can get a non-direct-mount stem? and what would the price be?
  • 1 0
try JensonUSA or Chainreactioncycles, they both sell Answer stuff.
  • 1 0
CRC doesn't have any answer stem, jensonUSA - postage to Europe would be so freaking much that there's no point. oh, yeah, i'd need a 1.5 stem. Big Grin
  • 1 0
the steerer tube would not matter as its fixed to the crown and not the steerer tube. JensonUSA is pretty good with shipping prices, i just looked and it would be $31 to ship the stem to Bulgaria which isn't that bad.
  • 1 0
uuummm, we're talkin 'bout a single crown stem, not the direct mount one - check my profile to see what kind of manitou fork i got. Wink
btw, odin333, it's all for a devinci - ollie 2006 (see that you've got a wilson yourself). cheers
  • 1 0
Far as I know the single crown stem is only available in 1-1/8". They're calling it a DJ stem, but I've seen some on 4x and FR bikes. From what I heard the bars and stems are just now hitting distributors so I imagine they'll be showing up in shops and online soon.
  • 1 0
i got them bars brand new for sell msg me
  • 1 0
wow looks good and will save weight Smile Salute
  • 1 0
 Those bars are quite attractive.
  • 1 0
New Codes? Looks very clean on a handlebar.
  • 1 0
that codes now just come with the demo when you buy it complete.at the moment they are not selling it if you want just the brakes. but probably soon they will be in the market. they look nice.
  • 2 0
It's actually just a Code caliper with an Elixir CR Mag lever. Specialized has been having custom Avid brakes on a lot of their bikes for the past few years.
  • 1 0
 good to know
  • 1 1
not really, it still has the dial adjustment that all codes have...
  • 1 0
...that is not a Code lever though. It's a custom CR Mag and/or XX lever.
  • 1 1
no, this is a code lever , my friend have this bike and the levers says code I know that looks like an elixir cr but this brakes says code, its a custom brake for specialized.
  • 1 1
and also I forgot that this lever have the ajustment like all codes have its just not at the front of the lever its on the inside side.
  • 3 0
From Specialized site, "Custom Avid Code CR Mag hydraulic disc, Mag CR lever with tooless reach and pad contact adj. Code caliper, stainless hardware, 203mm rotor."
It is not a Code lever, as Seraph has said.
  • 3 0
The brake pictured above does not have a Code lever. The Code lever has an aluminum lever that pivots on two sealed cartridge bearings. The lever above is carbon and pivots on bushings. Here is a Code lever: www.sicklines.com/review/avid_code/avid_code_lever.jpg and here is an Elixir CR Mag/XX lever: cdn.mos.bikeradar.com/images/news/2009/04/22/1240407567115-m8enoe0j84fm-798-75.jpg

You can clearly see the difference.
  • 1 2
hey I know that I have that code brakes , and I talk what I saw directly my friend have this demo 8 II complete bike he bought it complete and the levers says code what I can say that he put that or'????????? the levers If you see have a red regulation that you not going to find in any elixir brakes tahts the only diference but the levers says code.
  • 2 0
Right, the lever says "Code," but the levers themselves are Elixir CR Mag, not Code. That's all we're saying.
  • 1 2
not exactly , the dial regulation its not at the same place than the elixir cr mag , take a look and watch the red regulation that haves this between the handle bar and the lever its not the same, thats the only difference that I saw but they are closer to be the same.
  • 2 0
The dial is in the same place as it is on the XX brakes that come stock on the S-Works Epic bike. They are custom Elixir CR Mag/XX levers for Specialized by Avid. They are not Code levers.
  • 1 2
hey seraph. your trying to tell a guy he doesn't have codes, even though the lever says it on it?
thats so seraph of you!
you'll go far bud.
  • 2 0
They are Code calipers with Elixir levers. If you order a pair of Code brakes, they will not look like the ones the come on this bike. I'm just trying to clear it all up.
  • 1 2
I know that and thats what I say at the first comment I just say that if you want to buy this brakes you will not find them because they are custom brake for specialized demo 8 II. Avid dont sell them just that. I know the code brakes and levers I have the gray ones on my glory. But take a look of all the elixir levers and they dont have that red regulation like this levers. take a look at the avid page and see. and I say this because I saw them live directly not in internet all my friends have elixir brakes and I saw the differences. but ho cares lets go ride man DHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  • 1 0
If you READ my comments you will see that I said that Avid makes these Elixir CR Mag/XX levers custom for Specialized. Besides the external adjustment knob, they are EXACTLY the same as the stock CR Mag/XX levers that you can get from Avid.
  • 1 0
yes my friend I know what you trying to explain and I think that there was just a confusion between eachother but now I think we know the point of eachone so everything its clear now I think ?
good vibes man lets go ride and forgot this
  • 1 0
 what a nice looking bar!!!
  • 1 0
The black and red combo looks good!
Will the cap come in other colors?
  • 1 1
i have a set of the new pro tapers and i love them. best set of bars i have ever used
  • 1 1
madd stem but what brakes are they coz it siad code on it can any one send me link to find them on
  • 1 0
still not on sale... don't know if they will sell them. those are avid codes but with elixir's levers - they are OEM for specialized, i think. personally, i like only elixir out of the avid catalogue because of their modulation - all other avid brakes are just on/off brakes.
  • 1 1
i want someone to make an orange stem already...but other than that they look really clean
  • 1 0
 i want those bars!!!!!!
  • 1 1

  • 1 1
 beautiful stem, horrible movie
  • 1 1
not sure what they are but i want some
  • 1 1
See my reply above. The only way you're getting a set is if you can convince an SBC dealer to sell you some. Otherwise you'll have to build them yourself.
  • 2 4
