The Pinkbike Podcast: Episode 53 - Should Climbers Still Have the Right of Way?
If Im climbing and its easy enough to pull over and give way to the downhill rider, I usually do that. However if Im navigating a challenging uphill section, I keep going. Last year I was forced off the trail as I rode up by two a-holes waiting, not even riding, at the top of the downhill portion. They told me I was going the wrong way on a trail that I helped build. Etiquette in sport seems to have gone by the wayside, and the more popular a riding/skiing area, the less of it there is. I guess it could be just a numbers game, but regardless, Ive observed having ridden trails in 20+ states, that there are certain riding areas that have a higher percentage of entitled folks riding.

Video: Turning Your Mountain Bike Passion Into A Career - International Women's Day
“The master in the art of living makes little distinction between her work and her play, her labor and her leisure, her mind and her body, her information and her recreation, her love and her religion. She hardly knows which is which. She simply pursues her vision of excellence at whatever she does, leaving others to decide whether she is working or playing. To her she's always doing both. ” (James A. Michener)

Ask Pinkbike: Sketchy Carbon Bars, New Bike or Upgrade, Sharing the Trail, & Fuel Containers
@whitebirdfeathers: it was a stihl one. It was an early one, say 3-4 years ago, so the batteries may have improved by then. I really wanted to like it, but it just wasnt up for the job. ymmv

Ask Pinkbike: Sketchy Carbon Bars, New Bike or Upgrade, Sharing the Trail, & Fuel Containers
If you plan on using it in the cold I would reconsider. I borrowed a quality electric saw for some work on ski trails in the winter and the batteries died far too quickly for me (and I had a spare in my pack wrapped in a stuff sack with handwarmers). I ended up getting a Stihl 150 with a 12" bar and now it goes on every trailwork day for bike or ski trails. Lightweight, cuts great, and with some creativity the 12" bar manages to handle pretty much anything except for really big stuff, which we don't have to deal with much around here.

‘I Started Seeing the Good in Life’ - What Do Mountain Biking’s New ‘Pandemic Riders’ Think of the Sport so Far?
Cas nailed it. It's why those of us in trail advocacy keep at it. I love it when people are stoked on new trails, but I'm even happier when our trails introduce new riders to the sport, especially ones like Cas who "get it" from the start. Come to VT for a tour sometime!
