Jacket

Jun 20, 2013 at 13:04
by Nathan Scott
Looking to get a new jacket for riding in,gotta be properly waterproof light weight and able to be worn over armour so not a roadie jacket! Any experiences or recommendations will be greatfully investigated. Got my eye on the rf chute but I'm worried about its water-proofness.

Thanks for any help guise.

Paramo jackets are really good and cope well with mud, use my Velez for MTB and horse riding is the worst weather Wales as too offer and it's been brill. They aren't however technically waterproof they pump water away. Arcteryx however are traditional waterproofs cut well and bloody good but expensive.

Goretex is the only true waterpoof and breathable material, never found anything as good, problem with anything else you get wetter on the inside than the outside, try mountain wearhouse, for light rain I use a light fleece ring it out and go again.

oh, i wish it would rain, 10pm and it's 28°C out Frown

RF seem to be designed for chubby persons, that's my experience so far with them

Have a look outside the bike world. Something like an Arc'teryx, Mountain Hardwear or even North Face.

Yeah far as I can tell everyone seems to do an equivalent type jacket but I think the true waterproof-ness of them all is suspect,I have the endura and its waterproof for a time then it starts to get wet. Best option would prolly be the gore but the fit is snug.
