@roninagent23: So in this scenario, you are assuming you are carrying your gun at you at all times. If this knife wielding man enters your house and you do not have your gun on you, then what do you do? Ask him to wait while you get it? Go run the room that you have your gun (I would assume you would have the gun locked up and not laying around your house since you have children), unlock your gun safe, remove the trigger lock, load it, and then go find the guy who's in your house? This scenario is extremely unlikely and doesn't prove that owning a gun would save your family. You could replace the weapon of your choosing and the scenario could be used to argue owning ninja stars, a taser, a cross bow, a spear. Your argument does not explicitly support gun ownership, but rather is argues to be able to carry a weapon of some sort to protect your self and loved ones. So why does it need to be a gun?
